Sheena O'Beirne
Yoga teacher, Naturopath
Sheena initially discovered yoga due to a whiplash injury, experiencing
first hand the benefits of personalised tuition and the power of yoga in
helping to strengthen and heal the body. This inspired her to study to
become a yoga teacher. It's a perfect complement to her existing naturopathy
practice as with her combination of naturopathy and yoga she has not only
the knowledge, but the empathy to really take care of you.
Sheena's focus is on yoga as therapy rather than just on strength, fitness
or flexibility in isolation (not every one can sit comfortably with their
toes behind their ears). Her preferred approach is to give private lessons
in which she can ensure you achieve the best for your body. And for those
private students who wish to enhance their yoga further, she provides
tailored exercises to practise in between lessons.
Sheena also runs small classes and has taught yoga to people from 8 to 80
years old – proving there really is no stage in life when yoga cannot add to
the quality of your life.
Recently she spent 2 years in Europe where she taught yoga in Italian whilst honing her language skills. Now teaching in English, she promises not to suggest that you get down on your hands and eyes in cat pose (eyes and knees being very similar in Italian!)
Sheena divides her time between teaching yoga at Lotus Health, working as a naturopath at Optimum Health Essentials and Unity Pilates, public speaking to corporates and voluntary organisations. She is the co-author of The Weekday Diet (Penguin). She has recorded a Yoga Nidra CD called Yoga for the Mind, offering help to those who are stressed, anxious, overwrought to enable them to calm and relax their mind.
