Scott Helbron
Yoga and Pilates teacher

‘If we can develop harmony internally within the mind and body, then this will reflect externally and our relationship with life will become harmonious.’
Scott is a Yoga and Pilates teacher based on the North Shore, teaching here at Lotus health and for corporate clients in Sydney.
He has spent over 10 years exploring various mind/body disciplines and has trained in and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture, Qigong, Taiji Quan), various forms of Eastern Bodywork and masssage as well as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Contrololgy.
Currently he is furthering his studies of Yoga in the T. Krishnamacharya Lineage under the guidance of Michael de Manincor (The Yoga Institute) and the study of Ontology under Peter Ralston (The Cheng Hsin Center).
'My aim is to do my best in offering assistance in the journey of understanding who we are; and by using the tools of Yoga, enhance our life experience. I believe that if we practice appropriate methods that are relative to our 'being', then we can develop harmony internally between the self, the mind and the body, and this will then reflect externally with our relationship toward life, bringing about a sense of balance and wholeness, allowing a genuine experience of peace and joy...'
Scotts classes are intended to be a stepping stone to improved mind/body health. They are designed to take into account your personal needs and weaknesses in an effort to improving physical, mental and emotional health as well as offering an opportunity to explore deeper, and more profound aspects of our-selves.

Description of classes Scott teaches:
Vinyasa Yoga

A flowing form of Yoga where breath and movement are utilized to link each asana (posture) to the next, creating a continuous, rhythmic quality to the practice. Balancing strength and flexibility, movement and stillness. The emphasis in these classes is on practicing a posture according to ones individual needs and capacity, as opposed to striving to achieve an ideal form.
We use regulated breathing to guide us through the postural movements. With the goal of setting ourselves up for successful meditation.
'vinyasa krama : a correctly organized course of asanas progressing appropriately toward a desired goal' TKV Desikachar Heart of Yoga
This class aims at improving our health and well-being on all levels, by bringing together body, mind and spirit.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga (aka Taoist Yoga) is a passive approach to Yoga poses and targets the connective tissue of the joints as opposed to the stretching and strengthening of the muscles as found in most other styles of Hatha Yoga.
Although very gentle and passive in its application, it provides its own challenges for the body and mind as rather than spending perhaps 5 to 8 breaths in each pose , we tend to stay in each pose for around 3 to 5 minutes.
This time is needed to allow ourselves to genuinely soften and relax, and access the deeper tissues of the joints.
With the correct approach this is a very deep practice and can be incredibly relaxing.
Pilates - Controlology
Controlology is the original name Joseph 'Pilates' gave to his collection of mind-body exercises and principles.
Our classes are a collection of these original exercises, plus an exploration of contempory exercise with the application of his key principles and correct bio-mechanics.
You will develop core strength and learn body awareness, allowing your physique to move in a more effective manner, improving posture and overall strength and flexibility.
This is intelligent, challenging and fun exercise.
Classes are limited in size to give you the attention you deserve.
