Karine Shellshear

Yoga teacher

I have been a practitioner of yoga over many decades and started teaching three and a half years ago after completing my training with Yoga Sanga and accreditation with the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarim (sp). I undertook Yoga study over a two year training period that culminated in a two week study course in India

I hold three degrees including a Bachelor of Arts, Social Studies with Hons and a Masters with Hons in Housing, from Sydney University.

I have been an asthmatic since childhood and as part of my teacher training, I applied extensive research investigation on yoga and asthma within the classical framework of traditional yoga techniques. The Yoga practice I offer comes from research, observation through self-experimentation and application of self-awareness that includes movement and exercise, pranayama breathing and guided relaxation, together with practical insights to alter daily breathing patterns and nutritional adaptations.

From being totally dependent on puffers over 13 years, I now rarely use them.

I hope to be able to share the knowledge I've gained in this area and look forward to helping other sufferers of asthma move through to a new phase of self-awareness, and hopefully, some level of relief. 'Yoga for Asthma' Workshop
