Gary CreesYoga teacher
In 1984 Gary discovered the therapeutic and health-giving benefits of yoga
when RSI brought his music career to an abrupt halt. After trying different
therapeutic approaches he found that yoga not only relieved the symptoms but
immediately began to restore functionality and wellbeing. Since then he has
practiced and studied yoga including Iyengar & Dru styles and has qualified
as a Dru Yoga teacher. As well as teaching yoga he has incorporated yoga
into his wellbeing workshops for teachers and young children. Dru (from the Sanskrit word dhruva, the
fixed star) which translates as stillness, refers to the still place inside
that we befriend & nurture through yoga, pranayama and meditation. In this
stillness we are able to sit back from anything that may be happening around
us, and see and act from a point of clarity and inner calm. In the tradition
of mindfulness practice we can be who we really are, rather than acting out
old habits & reactive patterns. With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, Dru works on body, mind and spirit—improving strength and flexibility, creating core stability, building a heightened feeling of positivity, and deeply relaxing and rejuvenating your whole being. Designed to be practised by people of all abilities, all
fitness levels and all age groups, Dru is a style of yoga that can be
quickly dipped into or learnt in more depth over a lifetime. Dru also
incorporates contemporary research & approaches to wellbeing and stress
management. |
