Spring

Spring means new life. It is a time for new beginnings, a period of rejuvenation and an opportunity for personal & spiritual growth.

Many of us may already be sensing an air of change around us. As the Earth tilts allowing for more light, we are lured by the smell of jasmine and the promise of sunshine to get outdoors, reconnect with nature and remember what it means to be alive!

Spring is a wonderful time to restore the balance in our lives and give back to ourselves so that we have the energy to give birth to our goals and dreams. It is a time for flushing away anything unnecessary from our mind, body & life; and a time for loving and nurturing ourselves. Whether this means blocking out some time in the day just for us, getting back into weekly yoga classes or clearing the mind to reconnect with our life’s true values; by making some simple changes in our life we can greatly improve our overall health & wellbeing and breathe some fresh air back into our lives.

Tips for Spring:

  • Plan your Ideal Week. Look at where you are currently devoting all your time energy and determine where you might start to make a few changes to bring you closer to the life of your dreams. It may be best to create a plan of what your ideal day/week would look like then start adjusting your routine to move you closer to your goals.
  • Hydrate! Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Get yourself a good quality water bottle (one that doesn’t leech plastic into your water!) and be sure to keep sipping it throughout the day. Try adding a squeeze of lemon to some hot water in the mornings to flush the intestines, alkalize the body and promote health. Remember we are 70% water- it is vital to body’s health!
  • Breathe! Learning to breathe properly can be one of the most beneficial things you can do to help the body & mind. Practice breathing through the nose; in for 5 and out for 5 counts. Feel the belly expand on the inhalation and soften on the exhalation. This trains deep diaphragmatic breathing whilst pumping the digestive system, increasing oxygen supply throughout the body and is powerful meditation for calming the mind and balancing our emotions.
  • Cleanse your diet! The most simple nutrition advice is to avoid any processed or packaged products and get back to whole fresh foods. Go organic where you can and cleanse your digestive system of all the added garbage that makes us unwell.
  • Get outdoors! Spend an afternoon in the sunshine. Take off your shoes, feel the grass beneath your feet, and reconnect with Mother Nature. You might like to take a walk or go for a run to get the body moving. A healthy body is one that gets used!

The best advice we can give you this Spring is to enjoy life! Do what makes you happy and fit in some time to give back to yourself.
